JUDGEMENT DAY SATURDAY


Fans are the foundation of any great band or musician – that’s why we’ve created “Judgment Day Saturday” – a competition where fans and fans only determine what band in a specific genre is best.

This is a point-based competition – one Grand Prize winner will be chosen by audience members. In addition, ALL BANDS have the potential to earn additional money for themselves on each night that a Most Wanted event is held.

Grand Prize:

• $250 cash + a $1500.00 Live Multi-Camera DVD Recording of their performance.
• In Addition: You will win a headlining or opening position for a Paid Gig with bands that have massive followings. This will undoubtedly help you build a large fan base and strengthen your marketability for securing future gigs in Los Angeles.
• All Others: LIVE DVD Recording of your individual performances.

Who is Allowed to Enter?

This competition is not age*, race, sexual orientation, or gender specific. However, in regards to music genre, we are only taking entries from Rock, R&B, Hip-Hop, Blues, Reggae, Country, Funk, Jazz, and Pop BANDS.
*An all ages, 18+ or 21+ show will be determined based the fan base of each band that enters for each genre.

What Are the Show Requirements?

FREE! “Judgment Day Saturday ” is FREE to enter. There are no entrance fees or participation fees. The only stipulations for entering “Judgment Day Saturday” are:

  • Participating acts MUST pre-sale a MINIMUM of 50 tickets each to perform.
  • FILL OUT the entry form at the end of this event page to be considered
  • ARRANGE a meeting with our G.R.I.P. rep to work on monetizing your talent
  • VISIT the venue to pick up your entry pass & promotional materials. Advertise the event on your Myspace page.

What Should I/We Expect from the Competition?

  1. Prepare TWO SETS – the grand prize winner and the band with the loudest crowd at the end of the night will each have the opportunity to play an encore
  2. Judgment Day Saturday is a one night-long show where of 5 bands/ groups in each genre will compete for the Grand Prize.
  3. Only ONE specific genre will be performing on that given night. They are:
          ¤ Rock, R&B, Hip-Hop, Blues, Reggae, Country, Funk, Jazz, and Pop

Each act gets a 30-minute set or 5-song performance, whichever comes first.
° After all 5 groups have performed, ballots will be collected from audience members (who received their ballots at the door upon entry)
° At this point we will do a quick BONUS Loudest Crowd Competition where the band with the loudest fans (measured with our Crowd Meter) gets to play an encore.
° Ballots will be tallied during the band with the loudest crowd’s encore
The winner will be announced and invited onstage to play an encore of their own.

BALLOTS

  • All audience members will receive one (1) ballot at the door specific to the band they came to see.
    EXAMPLE

Points:

  • 5 Points: For each completed ballot (front and back) turned in at the end of the night. Points will go to the band whose name is at the top of the ballot.
  • 4 Points: awarded to the band(s) that members of the audience voted for on their ballots as the best in the categories of:
           1. Look: the overall appearance of a band; which one had the best style?
           3. Sound: which band had the best sounding music?
           4. Overall Performance: this is self explanatory.
    **NOTE: Your audience will NOT be able to vote for your band on their ballots, hence the 5 points for completed ballots at the end of the night.

    There will be two moderating judges that will take this information and use it to make a final decision as to which band has what it takes to be “The Most Wanted Band of the Week”

When Does This Competition Take Place?

“Judgment Day Saturday” will be held every Saturday night for the next year. Your respective booker will give you your assigned time & date. Therefore, the contest winnings will be paid out on the same day that you perform.

Why Should I Apply for the “Judgment Day Saturday” Competition?

If you're looking to grow your fan base with people who are LEGITIMATELY interested in you, your music & attending future shows, then this is the competition for you! Since your fans can be strategically vital to you winning, the more people you sell tickets to, the better chance you have of demonstrating that your band is most wanted by fans. All audience members will have a chance to give their opinions on each band as well as their own, so your band as a whole (as well as individually) will have a chance to grow & better themselves & their performances for future shows. This allows for a more enjoyable experience by not only the audience members, but the band members as well.

Our venue will be providing the money from not only food/ drink purchases but the ticket sales as well, which is where the cash prizes will be coming from, so everyone wins.

Terms & Conditions

There are no restrictions on experience level. However, the more experience, the better chance you have of winning the competition for your genre. A professional & great stage presence is expected. Bands understand that by applying for & booking this competition, the Venue is NOT responsible for any lack of ticket sales on the bands' part, per the minimum requirements. The Venue DOES have the right to cancel your performance based on these conditions. We expect you to be prepared & excessive promoting of the show is encouraged, as long as they fit within our guidelines (NO spamming online, etc.).
